Ravi Kumar Munimarappa

Hailing from a village that is located a little outside the city of Bangalore in the borders of Karnataka and Tamilnadu, The conflict of the urban and rural has always been the center of my works. As the city continues to devour the little villages around them, displacing the people and forcefully including them as participants of the urbanization process. We can see lot of memories like bricks plants in farm lands, the formers its self made brick plants in their own land to use themselves to built their own houses but in some cases they made plants but they not use bricks again they become dump in farm land they became old structures in land, I thought to bring those memories in my paintings, I think this is soil to soil again, It is the anxiety of displacement, loss of identity and concerns of environment that form a premise of my works. The language of miniatures has always intrigued me and I continue to use its influence it has had as a part of my work. Water color is my favorite medium I like to work in wet flowing method reminiscing the past and thinking of what the future holds for us is all about my works .
